A Defense for Shirabe Ako/Cure Muse (Suite Precure)
Annoying, bratty, rude towards other Cures,
I can understand not caring for her when she’s first encountered. She was pretty rude, and even blocking her path wasn’t justification for her attitude.
She spends much of the first half of the show being a one-scene-wonder, usually popping in to make some snarky remark, with next to no actual focus until her identity as Cure Muse is revealed.
One must consider what she’s gone through. She’s the nine year old Princess of Major Land. Her father has suddenly become an evil overlord, her entire kingdom is in danger of being destroyed and she’s not only forced to hide in a foreign world, but is also given the powers of the Precure… and can’t do anything with them.
She can’t bring herself to harm her father, so she doesn’t know what to do to help him. Even the other characters point out how frustrated she must be with her situation. One could also argue that her bratty attitude is part of her disguise, as Ellen comments that she didn’t recognize Ako as the princess of Major Land due to among other things, her bratty attitude.
Of course having a character’s reason for behaving the way they do is only half of great character development. The other half is them overcoming these flaws and becoming a better person, as Ako does once she officially joins the team. Even before then we are shown pretty clear signs that she is not as much of a brat as she fronts.
Here’s a prime example that came up well before she was revealed to be Cure Muse.
The Defense Rests.
Her unmasked form looks nothing like her masked form,
No reason to hate her. If anyone is to be blamed it’s Toei for upholding their tradition of trolling the audience when revealing new Cures.
Is too young (she’s 9)
Again, no reason to hate a character. I can understand if she comes off as the bratty tag-along kid type though. But consider the target audience for the Precure franchise. The are usually children in the 4-10 age range, and might not find the usual 14 year old Cures as relatable.
Overshadows Kanade and Ellen after her unmasking.
Another tradition of the Precure franchise, the newest Cure to join the group will always have a lot of focus. In this case it’s especially justified because again, she is the princess of the other world that needs saving. Her grandfather is also an important character near the end of the show, so there’s a lot more going on with her than there is Ellen, whose story arc had already ended.

Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past (GBA)
As my friends and I couldn’t meet up all the time to play Four Swords, I was playing Link To the Past far more often. Just as well too since you get features in Four Swords (like sword beams) for playing through LTTP.
I never understood why Link’s hair is pink…
